Marco Ronconi
Italian born, Marco Ronconi’s photographic vision is rooted in emotion, atmosphere and suggestion. Through the use of natural elements such as snow, ice, fog, and light, he creates images that move beyond representations of wildlife and landscape, inviting the viewer into a quieter, contemplative space. His work embraces simplicity and restraint, giving equal importance to what is revealed within the frame to what remains unseen, imagined, or unresolved.
Rather than approaching wildlife photography solely as a scientific record or document of a particular species and its environment, Ronconi’s practice is driven by a more philosophical inquiry into our relationship with the natural world. At the heart of his work is an interest in opposites and the space between them: light and darkness, presence and absence, emptiness and fullness, clarity and obscurity. These contrasts are not formal devices, but rather metaphors for the complexity of perception itself. Fog can conceal as much as it reveals, snow can transform a landscape into a field of silence, darkness can suggest a presence that is never fully visible.
His images therefore resist the idea that everything must be seen, explained, or understood. Instead, they embrace the power of suggestion. His work invites us to slow down and look inward, allowing memories, emotions, and interpretations to become part of the experience. Through light, atmosphere, space, and silence, Ronconi seeks to create photographs that are not merely observed but felt, images that linger in the imagination long after the moment of viewing has passed.
His fine art prints have been exhibited in galleries in Europe and the US and his images featured in various magazines. He’s currently represented by Sohn Fine Art, Nordiart and Route galleries.
